Greetings from Chief Director

Greetings

Yoshiya Higashi
Chief Director, The Japanese Puppet Therapy Association

The Japan Puppet Therapy Association was established in June 2007 for the purpose of utilizing and researching therapies using puppets in various fields such as medicine, nursing, psychotherapy, childcare, education, and welfare, as well as to promote academic exchange and cooperation among members.

My name is Yoshiya Higashi, and I became the third chairman of the board of directors in April 2023.

Currently, our members, who are active in the various fields mentioned above, are engaged in practice and research utilizing "therapy" with "puppets”. And many reports on their activities, including papers, are published in our journal.

They also collaborate with overseas researchers and report on their activities to help people in various difficult situations in other countries.
Unfortunately, "Puppet Therapy" is currently unknown to many people in Japan, but through the past practices of our members, we have steadily accumulated a track record of its usefulness.

In the world, more and more people are under great stress due to social turmoil such as wars and the Corona disaster. We feel that "Puppet Therapy" has a significant role to play in such a world.

Our society also offers training sessions to learn the basics of puppet manipulation so that even beginners can put it into practice. We hope that as many people as possible will join our society and together we can create a better society by stimulating each other.
